What this site collects

rangarathnayake.com uses its own first-party analytics — no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics services. When you visit, the following is recorded:

• a random visitor ID stored in your browser’s local storage, used to tell new visits from returning ones;
• your IP address and approximate location (country / city) derived from it;
• browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language and time zone;
• the pages and page sections you view, how far you scroll and how long the page is open;
• which links and buttons you click, and the site that referred you.

Why

Only to understand how the site is used — which work people are interested in and how they find it — so it can be improved. The data is never sold or shared for marketing.

Contact form

Messages you send through the contact form are delivered by email and used only to reply to you.

Retention

Analytics records are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted.

Your choices

• Browsers sending Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals are not tracked.
• You can opt out on this device at any time: turn off analytics.
• To ask for your data to be deleted, email hello@rangarathnayake.com.
